Bio

Jordi Baizan is a first generation American and native Texan songwriter.  He has played hundreds of shows in the US, Canada, and Europe and released his sixth record in February of 2022.  His songwriting, which American Songwriter (USA) has called “exquisite”,  has garnered him recognition from several prestigious songwriting competitions including the Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition, the Songwriter Serenade Competition, and the South Florida Folk Festival’s Singer/Songwriter Competition. Signed in 2019 by Berkalin Records, label owner Brian J. Kalinec says  "Jordi's songs convey authenticity perfectly intertwined with memorable melodies.   His unique voice and his stories draw you in from the beginning, and you can't wait to hear the next page.”  Jordi’s 2019 album, Free and Fine, inspired Lonestar Time (Italy) to welcome Jordi “into the great family of true troubadours”.  His latest album, The Love in You (2022), charted on both the Folk DJ (USA) and Euro-Americana (Europe) charts for multiple months.

“The exquisite songwriting of Jordi Baizan" - American Songwriter

“A singer-songwriter who, with skillful touch, continues to develop his ability to capture the listener's attention. Baizan is skilled, not unlike a Paul Simon, to tell about the little things with small, refined means in both lyrics and melodies.” - Rootsy (Sweden)

“Music that takes the way to the heart and ignores the detour. This is perhaps Jordi Baizan's best album to date.” -  Blaskan (Sweden)

"The Love in You “dispels the darkness with musical and lyrical light” - Fatea Magazine (UK)

“Healing music.  Reminiscent of the 1970s and fantastic storytellers like Jackson Browne and JD Souther.”  - Baretta (Sweden)

“Baizan’s voice and music reminds us of folk troubadour James Taylor during his successful period in the 1970s.” - Rootstime (Belgium)

"The Love in You is “a record of hope and optimism, something we need more and more these days.” - Lone Star Time (Italy)

”Three years after the deservedly acclaimed predecessor Free And Fine, the Texan, Houston-born Americana-folk singer and songwriter is impressively back with his third studio album” - Country Jukebox (Germany)

“The Love in You has a certain 1970s kinda feeling in an Al Stewart meets John Denver meets Jim Croce kind of direction. 8.7 out of 10!” - Strutter’zine (Netherlands)

"This is a beautiful record, full of grown up but still joyous and hopeful songs by a true artist and deep soul” - Walt Wilkins

"Free and Fine is a beautiful album with some exceptional moments: stunning imagery, Jordi's sweet voice, engaging melodies, delicate and beautiful harmonies, a stunning sound, clarity of the instruments, and subtle arrangements...A really beautiful album." - Mike Penard, Radio I.S.A. FM (France)

"When you need some comforting sounds to wrap around you" - Americana Music Show

"Now that 'Free and Fine' has come out we can safely welcome him into the great family of true troubadours, genuinely connected to a tradition that includes big names in American Music" - Remo Ricaldone, Lonestar Time (Italy)

"The new album, Free and Fine, is great. I’m delighted with it! The sound is wonderful. The songs are winners. This record is Jordi’s best yet. I think he hit it out of the park.” - Rob Carter, DJ, KEOS 89.1 Bryan, TX and KOOP 91.7 Austin, TX.

"Jordi's songs convey authenticity perfectly intertwined with memorable melodies. His unique voice and his stories draw you in from the beginning, and you can't wait to hear the next page." - Brian J. Kalinec, Berkalin Records
